Her parents are Adrienne Banfield-Jones, the head nurse of an inner-city clinic in Baltimore; and Robsol Pinkett, Jr., who ran a construction company. Banfield-Jones became pregnant in high school. The couple married but divorced after several months. Banfield-Jones raised Pinkett with the help of her mother, Marion Martin Banfield, who was employed as a social worker. Banfield noticed her granddaughter's passion for the performing arts and enrolled her in piano, tap dance, and ballet lessons. She has a younger half-brother, actor/writer Caleeb Pinkett.

Pinkett Smith has remained close to her mother and said, "A mother and daughter's relationship is usually the most honest, and we are so close." She participated as the maid of honor in Banfield-Jones' 1998 wedding to telecommunications executive Paul Jones. Pinkett-Smith has shown great admiration for her grandmother, saying, "My grandmother was a doer who wanted to create a better community and add beauty to the world."

Pinkett Smith majored in dance and theatre at the Baltimore School for the Arts, graduating in 1989. She continued her education at the North Carolina School of the Arts, but dropped out after a year. She moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue an acting career.

American businesswoman Kristen Mary "Kris" Jenner

Kristen Mary "Kris" Jenner is an American television personality, socialite, and businesswoman. She is also the manager for all of her family members including Kim Kardashian Humphries, Kourtney Kardashian and Khloe Kardashian Odom. She is the wife of Olympic Champion Bruce Jenner. Jenner was previously married to lawyer Robert Kardashian Sr. They divorced in 1990.

Kristen Mary Houghton grew up in University City, a suburb of San Diego, and attended Clairemont High School. She is the daughter of Mary and David Houghton, who had two other daughters, Karen and Sarah. She was raised solely by her mother, because her parents went through a divorce when she was seven. Her father died in 2001 at age 71.

In 1978, Kris met future husband, lawyer Robert Kardashian Sr. (widely known for his early representation of O.J. Simpson) while working as a flight attendant. They were married between June 1978 and 1990. With him she had four children: Kourtney Mary on April 18, 1979; Kimberly Noel on October 21, 1980; Khloé Alexandra on June 27, 1984 and Robert George Kardashian Jr. on March 17, 1987. Jenner was a housewife while her children were growing up. Following marital difficulties Kris filed for divorce in 1990. Robert Kardashian Sr. died September 30, 2003, two months after being diagnosed with esophageal cancer.

The Kardashian family was very close to O.J. and Nicole Brown Simpson. The O.J. Simpson trial caused conflict between already divorced Kris Jenner and Robert Kardashian. Kardashian was on O.J.'s defense team, while Jenner supported her best friend, Nicole. It was especially hard for all of their children, because they had to choose whom to support: their mother and Bruce, or their father.

In 2008,when O.J. Simpson was sentenced for armed robbery, Jenner said she had "mixed emotions about sentence.

Kris Jenner and her first daughter Kourtney Kardashian opened "Smooch," a children's clothing boutique in 2003. They ran the store until late 2009 when they decided to close it, because Kourtney became pregnant. She became a millionaire over night, due to Keeping up with the Kardashians. Jenner now manages all the members of her family and co-manages the girl group BG5, or The Beach Girl5, with son Rob. Kris and her current husband, Bruce Jenner own Jenner Communications Inc. together. She is most known for being the executive producer and starring in the reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Jenner also produces Khloe & Lamar, a show featuring her third daughter Khloe. The Kardashian family made a combined total of 65 million dollars in 2010. Kris Jenner's current net worth alone is estimated to be 20 million dollars.

Kris and current husband Bruce Jenner married on April 21, 1991. Kris has two daughters with Bruce, Kendall Nicole (b. November 3, 1995) and Kylie Kristen (b. August 10, 1997). Like Kris, Bruce had already been married and had four children: Burt, Casey, Brody, and Brandon. On December 14, 2009, Jenner became a grandmother when Kourtney and her long-time boyfriend Scott Disick had their first child, Mason Dash Disick.

Jenner has one tattoo on her lower back that has the names of her daughters Kendall and Kylie, which she got while she was drunk with her friend Ellen K (radio hostess), as seen on Keeping Up with the Kardashians season 2 episode 15.

In June 2011, Jenner had gotten a facelift months before Kim's wedding. She allowed before and after the surgery to be recorded. The video footage can be seen on E! Online. She explained,"I needed a little freshening up for the wedding. Just doing what a girl's gotta do!"
