Russell Brand compares married life to Katy Perry like a 'sitcom'

Don't let Katy Perry and Russell Brand fool you -- despite being one of Hollywood's hottest celeb couples at the moment, their marriage couldn't be more normal.

That's according to Brand, who appeared on England's "Loose Women" (a talk show similar to "The View") to discuss his relationship with the "California Gurls" singer, whom he tied the knot with in India last month.

Despite the elaborate, multiple-day ceremony, which culminated in a tiger sanctuary, Brand claims their relationship is surprisingly commonplace.

"It's just a normal marriage," Brand insisted. "The other day, I put a shirt on and she went ... 'You're wearing that shirt, are you?'"

Like other newlyweds, Brand says he's had to adjust to life as part of a couple.
"I thought, That's actually happening?' That's a thing off a sitcom," he joked. "That happened in my actual life. If she says don't wear the shirt, I don't wear it."

The 35-year-old actor also used humor to deflect widespread rumors of the pair's extravagent wedding. Asked about claims that Brand gifted Perry with a tiger at their nuptuals, the star quipped, "I'm a vegetarian, you don't give people tigers, it's stupid, it's dangerous, and tigers don't like it."

The lighthearted conversation became more serious when Brand discussed his relationship to the singer.
"All of us, really, have a deep yearning within us for love," he said. "I think eventually you find a spiritual and emotional connection with someone ... I think if you love one person, it makes you love everyone.

"Katy gives me a lot to think about. I like it."
