Drew Barrymore was officially announced the new face of CoverGirl last Wednesday. She grew up with tearsheets of models such as Cheryl Tiegs, Rachel Hunter and Christie Brinkley plastered on her bedroom like wallpaper. Well this January, another young girl can do the same with her photo. She joins the ranks of her idols to become the newest face of CoverGirl cosmetics.
When the announcement was made in Los Angeles where the 32-year-old actress has just wrapped up the CoverGirl spots, dressed in a canary yellow Carolina Herrera shift dress and grass green Christian Louboutin heels, the "Charlie's Angels" actress seemed to glow from the attention. She said

CoverGirl had managed to change with the times, yet stay in touch with women of all ages and backgrounds.This is a two-way deal: Barrymore isn't just appearing in ads, she's co-creator of them - her first foray into commercials. Before any wardrobe or beauty decisions were made at Monday's print shoot, Barrymore says she was consulting on the concept, graphics, lighting and how the photo would be cropped. However, she leaves the makeup and product up to them, as it's their expertise.
What I want to do is honor the tradition of CoverGirl but hopefully bring myself and my personality into it, as well as some edgy fashion-forward thinking and positivity to it.This isn't the first time Drew Barrymore has used her face for a campaign. In 1993, the then 18-year-old mugged for Guess Jeans and more recently was the face for Missoni.
It's Drew's strength that led the company to seek her out. Esi Eggleston Bracey, vice president and general manager of CoverGirl Cosmetics North America said,
We partnered with Drew because she emulates the iconic image of CoverGirl with her fresh, natural beauty and energetic yet authentic spirit.Despite having a bit of a bumpy adolescence growing up as a child star in Hollywood, Drew Barrymore has come a long way it seems.
